For intravenous sedation, the anesthesiologist will tell you the exact fasting hours. Do not eat or drink before that time. Come with an adult who can stay with you. Tell us about your medications, allergies and conditions, even minor ones. Wear comfortable clothes. After intravenous sedation, rest for the remainder of the day and do not drive.

Preparing a child with autism or a disability

Tell them days ahead, in simple words, where you are going and what will happen. Use a short sequence: arrive, waiting room, chair, mirror, light, leave. Practice it at home through play. Bring their comfort object (toy, blanket, headphones). Message us beforehand: we arrange an adaptation visit and a quiet time slot. Tell us what calms them and what upsets them, so we can anticipate it.

Question 3

If a bracket comes loose or a wire pokes

Do not pull or bend it yourself. Cover the rubbing part with orthodontic wax. If a bracket is loose on the wire, leave it, and keep the piece if it came off. Message us to reschedule: do not wait for your next check-up if there is a sore or pain.

After a tooth extraction

Bite the gauze for as long as you were told, without changing it constantly. For the first 24 hours do not rinse hard, spit, use a straw or smoke. Apply cold outside your face and eat soft, cold foods. Message us if bleeding does not stop, if you have a fever, or if pain grows instead of easing.

After teeth whitening

For 48 hours avoid coffee, red wine, tobacco and dark sauces: teeth are more porous. Some sensitivity is normal and fades in a few days. If it bothers you, use toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
